Munferit Istanbul Music Playlist




Every single time I go to Munferit, in the midst of dinner I take out my iPhone in a hurry to Shazam a song that's playing. The thing is though, I end up doing it all-night-long. The owner of the restaurant who does the spinning himself, plays an amazing selection of alternative songs, varying from the classics like The Rolling Stones, Prince and Serge Gainsbourg to contemporaries such as Metronomy, Bibio and Pink Mountaintops.

After dinner, when we move upstairs to enjoy the retro-chic, dim lit bar, where laughing hipsters come in and out, eyeing the delicious cocktail menu as intensely as they eye the members of the opposite sex, the music gets a hold of me. The songs capture a strange mix of dark and adult melancholy and a joyous teenage abundance... They take me back to my college years...

As I'm having a restful Sunday morning at home, I am listening to the songs I got from Munferit. I hope you enjoy the playlist as much as I do.

Her Münferit'e gittiğimde, o an çalan şarkıyı Shazam'lemek için yemeğin ortasında iPhone'umu aceleyle çıkartıveriyorum. Ama durum şu ki bunu bütüüün akşam yapar oluyorum. Restoranın sahibinin kendisi DJ'lik yapıyor ve The Rolling Stones, Prince ve Serge Gainsbourg gibi klasiklerden Metronomy, Bibio ve Pink Mountaintops gibi çağdaş gruplara kadar harika alternatif şarkılar çalıyor.

Yemekten sonra, üst kattaki loş ışıklı, şık ve retro bara çıkarken, gençliğin kahkahalarla girip çıktığı, leziz kokteyl menüsünü karşı cinsi kestiği kadar dikkatle incelediği, müzik beni alıp götürüyor. Şarkılar, yetişkin karanlık bir melankoliyle, neşeli genç taşkınlığın tuhaf bir karışımı... Beni üniversite yıllarıma alıp götürüyor...

Evimde sessiz ve sakin bir Pazar sabahının keyfini çıkartırken, Münferit'den aldığım şarkıları dinliyorum. Umarım bu yukarıdaki playlist'i siz de benim kadar seversiniz.
