In the Company of Books

After brunch... and 2 bellinis, Cey, Ms. Purple and I walked over to Assouline in Bebek to look for a suitable birthday present for Cey's mom. It's a dangerous thing to spend time in this beautifully designed store. Becasue before you know it, you've shopped for two books and a set of heart-shaped cookie cutters (the last place I thought I'd find them) and contemplating to get the leather bound Proust Questionnaire instead of furniture for your future apartment.

There is a comfort in bookstores and libraries that I can't find anywhere else. It's perpahs the assurance to know you're surrounded by words of wisdom, the inspirational images and stories that will make you feel understood, more than anything.

Here is an article by Flavorwire that captures the 20 Most Beautiful Bookstores in the World. It's really worth paying attention to when traveling. Although not mentioned here, I do miss the miles of dusty bookshelves of the Strand Bookstore in New York. Where is your favorite bookstore?

Çünkü ne olduğunu anlamadan bir bakmışsınız 2 kitap ve kalp şeklinde cookie cutter seti almış(en son bulmayı tahmin edeceğim yer), gelecekdeki evinize eşya yerine deri kaplı Proust Questionnaire almanın planlarını kuruyor olarak bulabilirsiniz.

Sadece kitapçılarda ve kütüphanelerde bulabildiğim değişik bir huzur var. O da bilgeli kelimelerin, ilham veren resimlerin ve bize ''anlaşılmış'' hissi aşılayan hikayelerin etrafında olmanın verdiği bir güven hisse olsa gerek diye düşünüyorum.
