Tight, Copenhagen

As I was sleep-deprived and DJ. G was jet-lagged, we took a quick nap before heading out to the night life of Copenhagen. Our first stop was Tight. It was a cozy, candle-lit restaurant which, from what we could tell by the crowd, was a local favorite.

As appetizers, we ordered the Mushroom & Truffle soup as well as the mussels. I must say the soup was absolutely perfect. And as the main course, the perfectly crisp duck trumped the somewhat bland pumpkin risotto.

We skipped the desserts, figuring cocktails would be our dessert, but they looked yummy at the next tables. Overall, a fun and pleasant dinner experience.

Ben uykusuz, DJ. G de jet-lagged olunca kısa bir öğle uykusuna yattık, Kopenhag'daki ilk gecemize çıkmadan önce. İlk durağımız Tight. Şeker, sıcak, mum ışıklarıyla dolu bir restorandı. Ve etrafımıza baktığımızda lokal favori olduğu belli oluyordu.

Başlangıç olarak, Mantar ve Trüf çorbası ve midyeler söyledik. Çorba tam anlamıyla şahaneydi. Ve ana yemek olarak, leziz bir biçimde pişmiş olan ördek, biraz tatsız tutsuz olan balkabaklı risotto'yu geçti gitti.

Kokteyllerin tatlı niyetine geçeceğini düşünerek tatlı ısmarlamadık. Ama yan masalarda oldukça leziz gözüküyorlardı. Genel olarak eğlenceli ve keyifli bir akşam yemeği oldu.

And now on to the cocktails! When we got to the tucked away Ruby's and saw the line to get in, we were a tad discouraged. Waiting in the freezing cold for a couple of cocktails just didn't seem right. But considering it was highly recommended by every travel source I read, including my highly reliable friend Dr. B, we figured we'd give it a chance. And boy am I happy we waited.

With its several rooms, adorned in leather couches and oriental rugs, mixed together with the sleek bar, it has a refreshed yet old-worldly quality to it. The service is not to be rushed and one needs to be patient as they ever so craftfully and meticulously prepare the seasonally changing cocktails. And it is sure worth the wait!

From possibly the politest bouncer in the world to the friendliest Danes we've met, Ruby's was an absolute favorite of the trip! I simply cannot wait to go back in the summer one day, to enjoy the back garden as well as the new summer cocktails. No wonder it was recognized as the best bar in town by Conde Nast.

Ve şimdi sıra kokteyllerde! Gizli saklı Ruby's'e vardığımızda uzun bekleme sırasını görünce biraz hevesimiz kırıldı. Buz gibi havada bir iki kadeh içki için beklemeye değecek miydi emin olamadık. Ama okuduğum her seyahat yazısı ve güvenilir dostum Dr. B ısrarla tavsiye edince, şans tanımaya karar verdik. Ve iyi ki de vermişiz!

Modern ve cool barla deri koltuklar ve oryantal halılarla donanmış değişik odaların birleşimi taze ama eski dünya bir hava yaratmış. Mevsimle değişen kokteylleri büyük bir ustalık ve dikkatle hazırlayan servisi çok aceleye getirmeyip sabırlı olmak gerekiyor. Ve inanın beklemeye değiyor!

Herhalde dünya üzerindeki en kibar kapı görevlisinden tanıştığımız cana yakın Danimarkalı'larla, Ruby's seyahatin en favori yeri oldu! Yazın bir gün yeniden gidip arka bahçesinin keyfine varıp yeni yaz içkilerini denemeyi çok isterim. Tevekkeli değil Conde Nast tarafından en iyi bar olarak tanınmış.
