As you know from my previous posts, I am indeed a fan of cheese. Tonight I'm off to my sis for an intimate cheese & wine gathering. I've been looking forward to it ever since we eagerly gathered a relatively large variety of cheeses from Dean & Deluca while in New York... Yes, we pretty much risked the loss of our livelihood at the Turkish customs in the name of cheese.
From the wonderful Joanna of A Cup of Jo, who is as crazy a fan as we are, I wanted to share her "handy guide to creating a perfect cheese plate" prepared after an interview with the owner of Murray's Cheese Shop, another local favorite of mine.
By the way, I've been meaning to check out the Antre Gourmet here in Istanbul. I've read some great reviews about the store's high quality and large variety as well as its charm. The plan is to get some new local cheeses and condiments to finally be able to use my new slate cheese board. I've got the chalk and everything. Lucky for the Istanbulians, Crate & Barrel now ships to Turkey.
I'll report back when I do stop by this intriguing store. Until then, say cheeese! :)
Daha önceki yazılarımdan bildiğiniz üzere peynire oldukça düşkünüm. Bu akşam, ablamda ufak bir peynir & şarap gecesine gidiyorum. New York'dayken Dean & Deluca'dan gözümüz dönmüş çeşit çeşit peynirleri toparladığımızdan beri bu akşamı iple çekiyorum... Evet, hayat sevincimizi gümrükte kaybetmeyi göze almıştık peynir aşkı adına.
A Cup of Jo'nun yaratıcısı Joanna da bizim kadar deli peynir düşkünü olduğundan, kendisinin bir diğer New York'daki favori dükkanım Murray's Cheese Shop'ın sahibiyle yaptığı bir röportajdan sonra hazırladığı ''mükemmel peynir tabağı hazırlama rehberi''ni sizlerle paylaşmak istedim.
Bu arada ne zamandır Cihangir'deki Antre Gourmet'yi merak ediyorum. Basında bu şarküterinin kalitesi, çeşidi ve şekerliğiyle ilgili övücü yazılar okudum. Planım, lokal peynirleri toparladıktan sonra yeni kara tahta peynir tabağımı hazırlamak. Tebeşirim bile var! Ve İstanbul'lulara güzel haber. Artık Crate & Barrel Türkiye'ye de yolluyor.
