Summer in the City

It's hard to stay still and daydream about jumping into the refreshingly cold waves of the sea when the metropolitan city you are living in is having a heat wave. Even for such a summer-friendly city like Istanbul, it's way too hot these days as one feels stuck between the city walls and humidity.

Yesterday, as Mr. M and I went to Assk Cafe for dinner. When, to our surprise, we found out that every tuesdays they have Salsa Night with a live band, it hit me! How we miss the beauty of things when we focus on what we want and can't have. As I always say, it's all in the details. And now let's get our AC'ed heads out of the routines and remind ourselves all the things that make summer so great, even when you're not lying on the beach.

Yaşadığınız metropolit şehir bir sıcak hava dalgasına kurban giderken, olduğunuz yerde durup denizin canlandırıcı soğuk dalgalarına atlamanın hayallerini kurmamak pek kolay değil. Aslında yaz mevsimi için ideal bir şehir olan Istanbul için bile şu sıralar çok sıcak. İnsan rutubet ile şehir duvarları arasında kendini sıkışmış hissediyor.

Dün akşam Mr. M ile Assk Cafe'ye yemeğe gittik. Her salı canlı müzik ile Salsa Geceleri düzenlediklerini öğrenince çok şaşırdık. Ve işte o zaman dank etti! Hep isteyip de sahip olamadığımız şeylere odaklandığımızdan sahip olabileceğimiz güzellikleri kaçırıyoruz. Hep söylediğim gibi, herşey detaylarda saklı. Hadi klimadan sersemlemiş kafalarımızı rutinimizden çıkartıp kendimize hatırlatalım, yazı harika kılan şeyleri. Bir kumsalda uzanıyor olmasak bile.
