Afternoon Tea in London

Well, if it's going to be raining like this here in Istanbul, I might as well be in London with Queen Z. Oh, how much I missed London... with its gentle pace, checkered umbrellas and afternoon teas. I asked Queen Z where we would go on a rainy afternoon if I were there and she got me reminiscent about these three fabulous locations:

* The Classic: Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon - My favorite thing about this place is walking through the store to get to the salon. I can spend an entire day, browsing through the stylish goods, from teas to preserves to biscuits...

*The Modern:  Dover Street Market Rose Bakery - For a more modern, industrial version of an afternoon tea, this Bakery is also the birth place of the famous cookbook Breakfast, Lunch, Tea.

* The Formal: Browns Hotel English Tea Room - This sophisticated tea room is pure elegance. Perfect excuse to wear those pearls and heels.

As my father would ever so nonsensically say in his brilliant British accent, "Oooh pe-te peuh peuh!"

Yani eğer İstanbul'da böyle yağmur yağacaksa, Queen Z ile Londra'da olmayı tercih ederim. Ah ne kadar çok özledim Londra'yı... nazik ritmini, pötikareli şemsiyelerini ve akşamüstü çaylarını. Queen Z'e sordum eğer orada olsaydım, böyle yağmurlu bir akşamüstü nerelere giderdik diye ve bana bayıldığım üç harika yeri hatırlattı:

Klasik: Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon - Burasıyla ilgili en çok sevdiğim şey salona geçmek için dükkanın içinden yürümek. Bütün bir günü çeşit çeşit çaylardan reçellere, reçellerden bisküvilere bakınarak geçirebilirim.

Modern: Dover Street Market Rose Bakery - Çay keyfinin daha modern, endüstriyel bir versiyonunu sunan bu café aynı zamanda meşhur yemek kitabı Breakfast, Lunch, Tea'ın doğduğu yer.

Resmi: Browns Hotel English Tea Room - Bu sofistike ve çay salonu tam anlamıyla İngiliz zerafeti. Topuklularınız ve inci kolyelerinizi takmak için harika bir bahane.

Babamın fevkalade İngiliz aksanı ile hiç bir manasızca söyleyişi ile... ''Ööüü pi ti pöü pöü!''
