While the snow got more and more vigorous out my window, I was organizing my iTunes on my old desktop in an attempt to salvage what didn't get transferred to the laptop. I randomly came across a playlist titled, "Students in Love". I had completely forgotten about it. As I began to listen to it, it all came back to me. It was some of my favorite songs when my ex hubby and I were college students.
Every song took me back to a certain memory. Him driving me to class in his car I had named "pinky" as its color had a hint of pink. Us grabbing bowls of cereal, sitting on his lap in front of the computer, watching movie trailers and music videos on lazy mornings...
But one in particular sticks out. I had an early class twice a week, for which I had to walk across the Public Gardens in that terrible Boston cold. It was the most difficult thing, leaving the warm bed...with him in it. And since he also had a class, he usually weren't there when I rushed back home. But sometimes, just sometimes, I would walk in, only to find him under the white ruffled duvet, still sleeping. It was, at that time slice of my life, bliss.
Things fall apart. Things break. Despite all the hurt, I wouldn't change it for a thing. Life is all a collection of moments anyway. Cherish the good ones that you've had.

Kar penceremden git gide şiddetlenerek yağarken, ben de eski bilgisayarımdaki iTunes'dan laptop'uma transfer etmediğim şarkıları kurtarmaya çalışıyordum. Rastgele ''Aşık Öğrenciler'' başlıklı bir listeyi farkettim. Tamamen unutmuşum. İçindeki şarkıları dinlemeye başladım ve anında beni o zamana götürdü. Eski kocamla üniversiteye giderken dinleyip sevdiğim şarkılar.
Her şarkı bana başka birşey hatırlattı. Renginde hafif bir pembelik olduğu için ''pembuş'' adını koyduğum arabasıyla beni okula götürmesi. Tembel sabahlarda cornflakes'lerimizi alıp onun kucağında oturup bilgisayarda film fragmanları ve video klipler seyretmemiz...
Ama bir hatıra hepsinden daha kuvvetli. Haftada iki gün, çok erken saatde dersim olurdu ve derse gidebilmek için o Boston soğuğunda Public Garden'dan yürümem gerekirdi. Bana dünyanın en zor şeyi gibi gelirdi. Onun olduğu sıcacık yatağı bırakmak. Ve onun da dersi olduğu için eve koşarak gittiğimde genelde gitmiş olurdu. Ama bazen... bazen içeri girdiğimde, onu buruşmuş beyaz yatak örtüsünün altında hala uyuyor bulurdum. Ve hayatımın o zaman diliminde, bu benim için en büyük mutluluktu.
Bazı şeyler dağılıyor. Bazı şeyler kırılıyor. Ama tüm acıya rağmen hiçbirşeyle bu deneyimleri değişmem. Sonuçta hayatlarımız bu ufak anektodlardan ibaret. İyi olanlara özellikle değer verin.
