Hello! I’m Joanna, a guest blogger for Arcadian Lighting, which is a terrific online source for on-trend and classic chandeliers, ceiling lights, and other lighting fixtures. I enjoy my work so much as I often get lost for hours searching online for the most intriguing decorating ideas and images. Writing this guest post for Basak’s New-ist blog gave me a chance to explore the topic of neutral patterns in design. I've pulled together a few of my favorite examples. This is such a lovely vignette of layered neutral patterns: Lattice wallpaper provides a canvas for a nail head detailed mirror; Circle patterns decorate the back of a greige chair; A cowhide rug with natural markings completes the scene.

Neutral colors in a floral pattern decorate this luxurious rug in a transitional living room. The pattern adds interest to the space and anchors its elements.

A black and white diamond patterned floor gives this formal space striking character and interest. The glow of the light fixtures on the sleek tile sets it off beautifully.

An elegant bedroom has its own touches of neutral patterns found in the wallpaper, fretwork screen and the gown hanging by the bed.

A contemporary living room is alive with stripes on the floor and florals on the chairs. I’ve always liked the combination of the two patterns together.

A plethora of pillows in differing patterns decorate a pinstripe sofa and solid grey chair. The zebra print rug adds a bolder pattern to the space.

This decorative collection of hand woven baskets and chargers hung on a white brick wall puts pattern on top of pattern. The pairing makes a beautiful focal point.

Mid-Century modern décor has its own layering of patterns on almost every surface from the abstract rug to the grasscloth on the walls.
