When I was little, I wanted to be a movie star like most little girls do. I loved getting lost in the movies and play make-belief. The night of the Oscars, with the time difference and all, my mother used to wake me up in the middle of the night to watch it live. She used to make popcorn and we would hide under the blankets and comment on the dresses crowding the red carpet. When it ended, it would be the time for me to hop on the school bus. I would make my "sleepy puppy face" and she would give in. "Fine, don't go to school today." It's one of the fondest memories of my childhood. 

 

* This Sunday, we're watching the Oscars at my sis's. Even though it isn't as relevant as it used to be, it is still fun to keep up the tradition.

 

* This weekend, I will have to dog-sit my niece's dog, Findik, who's being trained by the magical help of the Dog Whisperer. If you do have an impressionable puppy who is in need of training, my sis highly recommends it.

 

* Next Tuesday, the long waited exhibition "Impressionism, Fashion, Modernity" opens at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which will be on view till May 27th. This will be a must-see on my next trip to New York.

 

* Also next Tuesday, Ekşi Sözlük celebrates their 14th Anniversary with a cocktail party at Murekkep, which I'm excited to attend with Fuli and Adaş.

 

* I still haven't been able to check out either the famous Hollywood photographer Nickolas Muray exhibition nor the exhibition titled "Between Desert and Sea," consisting of artists from Arab countries around the Mediterennean. Both at Pera Museum, I must go this week.

 

* While I'm at it, I might also check out Baylo, a new restaurant on my list that had peeked my interest when I walked by it a few weeks ago.

Ufakken her küçük kız gibi ben de filmlerde oynayan bir star olmak isterdim. Film dünyasının içinde kaybolup hayallere dalmaya bayılırdım. Zaman farkına rağmen annem gecenin bir vakti beni uyandırırdı canlı yayın Oscarlar'ı seyredebilmemiz için. Patlamış mısır yapar, battaniyelerin altına saklanır, kırmızı halıyı saran elbiseler hakkında konuşurduk. Show bittiğinde ise okul servisine binme vakti gelmiş olurdu. ''Uykulu puppy'' yüzüme bakıp kıyamazdı. ''Tamam, bugün okula gitme.'' Çocukluğumdaki en tatlı anılardan biridir.

 

* Bu Pazar Oscarlar'ı ablamda seyrediyor olacağız. Her ne kadar eski heyecanını yitirse de, geleneği devam ettirmek güzel.

 

* Bu haftasonu, yiğenimin köpeği Fındık'a bakıcılık yapıyor olacağım. Kendisi Dog Whisperer'ın kitapları ile eğitiliyor. Eğer sizin de herşeyi kapan bir köpek yavrunuz varsa, ablam bu kitabı bir hayli tavsiye eder.  
 

* Salı günü uzun zamandır beklediğim  "Impressionism, Fashion, Modernity" başlıklı sergi, Metropolitan Museum of Art'da açılıyor. 27 Mayıs'a kadar devam edecek olan sergiye, bir dahaki  New York seyahatimde mutlaka uğramalıyım.  

 

 * Gene bu salı Ekşi Sözlük, Mürekkep'deki bir kokteyl partisiyle 14. yıl dönümlerini kutluyor olacaklar. Seviniyorum Fuli ve Adaş'la katılacağım için.
 

* Hala Pera Müzesi'ndeki ünlü Hollywood fotoğrafçısı Nickolas Muray'nin sergisi ne de Akdeniz kıyılarındaki Arap ülkelerindeki sanatçılardan oluşan ''Çöl ve Deniz Arasında'' başlıklı sergiye gidemedim. Bu hafta artık şart. 

 

* Hazır ordayken, birkaç hafta önce önünden yürüdüğümde dikkatimi çekip listeme eklediğim restoran Baylo'yu denerim.
