Rain rain rain... With frail umbrellas flying off with the wind, rain boots dipping in pools of mud, a veil of gray hovering the city, it doesn't make a very good case, does it? Whether I have to run around in the city along other grumpy people or am lucky to be staying home, warm and cozy, my top choice of music for rainy days has always been the same: Chet Baker's My Funny Valentine album.
When staying in, it's his soft, soothing voice against the sharp rain drops on my window that makes me want to listen to him at times like this. I grab my cardigan, get a warm drink in my hands and look out the window. I get lost in a daydream, my thoughts streaming along with his vividly melodic, deeply heart-felt songs. And when I'm out and about, jumping over puddles, his delicately bright trumpet playing makes everything around me appear as playful and serene.
And how appropriate is his song Look For the Silver Lining for today. If you don't know it, here is a little snippet from the lyrics of this lovely, uplifting song.
